Only two weeks remain until the Blu-ray and DVD release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and the movie officially surpassed the 1 billion dollars on the worldwide box office. It’s the 15th movie who achieves something like this by gaining 301.1 million dollars in America and 700 million from the rest of the world. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King had reached 1.119 billion dollars in 2003 and it’s placed 6th. The three top places are given to Avatar, Titanic and The Avengers while Skyfall is placed 9th with 1.1 billion dollars worldwide.
The second part of the trilogy, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug is scheduled for December the 13th 2013 while the third, The Hobbit: There and Back Again was rescheduled for December the 17th 2014.
