Rumors from two very major newspapers, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, claim that Apple is preparing a “smart” watch. And obviously it’s not just a watch, but one that has a “screen” of curved glass.
The technology already exists, with Corning Glass Technologies which has presented the flexible Willow Glass, but nobody can be sure about the type and design that the smart watch will have. The story of both newspapers is simply based on information received from “sources familiar with the matter”, but also the opinion of people involved in this technology, as the CEO of Corning Glass, Pete Bocko.
Of course, the fact that such information has leaked does not necessarily mean that we will soon see the Apple iWatch in stores. This product need a lot of work yet and the idea of “wearable” computers is still premature. Just think about Google and the Google Glass: there’s been a lot of time since we first saw them, we’ve talked about them, but still we have not seen them in the market.
In any case, which of the following occasionally leaked concepts would you like to see in an Apple store?
