Some RPGs of the last decade, allow players to bring their character close (as close as it gets) to other NPCs in the game. In fact, in the last few years relationships between characters of the same gender are also allowed. As expected, there was no way for this to remain invisible to organizations that preach against “Sodom and Gomorrah”. Even though Bioware had announced in 2009 that homosexual relationships do not belong in the Star Wars universe, they finally changed their minds and integrated this option into The Old Republic, their new MMO. The president of the Family Research Council organization in America, found out about this and released a ranting which pretty much concludes that this game is “from hell”.
For those not familiar with the gaming industry, we should say that sexual relationships in RPGs (that is, in the few RPGs where they are featured), make for no more than 1% of the game. In most cases, the scenes in question last for only a few seconds, without showing anything “spicy”, with The Witcher 2 being an exception, since its entirety is aimed at more mature gamers anyway. It’s really worth your time to read or even listen to the short announcement / condemnation, whether you agree with the guy or not. However, right after that, you should log into The Old Republic and find a healer to remove the poison from you.
